Books For Children
There are too few children's books published about single adoptive families, which is one of the reason I am writing one - tentatively titled: WE ARE A FAMILY!
Recommended books:
All Kinds Of Families by Norma Simon. For ages 2 to 8. This book describes many different families including single parents.
Families Are Different by Nina Pelligrini for ages 4 to 8. This book is about Nico who is adopted by two parents (mother and father) from Korea. The book also discusses how families are different and includes single parents.
I Love You Like Crazy Cakes by Rose Lewis. For ages 4 to 8. Just published! This book is based on the author's experience as a single woman who adopted a baby girl from China.
Mr. Rogers - Let's Talk About It: Adoption by Fred Rogers. For ages 4 to 8. Mr. Rogers, who himself has an adopted sibling, talks about adoption in general. Includes single parent adoption.
Two Birthdays for Beth by Gay Lynn Cronin. For ages 4 to 10. Wonderful story about a single adoptive mother and her daughter.
